Latest News & Cool StuffYoung Emily just become our first minor authorised in rapier. A couple members are purchasing Darkwood longswords so more Cut and Thrust goodnees is heading our way. The change to Wednesday nights is attracting more newcomers and fencers from Stormhold, plus training has been extended by 30mins. Great Southern Gathering:- Lots of fencing, 4 Dons teaching, prize fighting and tourneys. Arrowsreach now has a Free Scholar (Josh)and a Provost (Jase). Some are planning on heading to Fencefeast August 2010. The second Great Southern Gathering (2010 South Australia)is less than a year away. Scheduled Training Sessions & ActivitiesEvery Wednesday at Croydon Primary School, Cnr Wicklow Ave and Kent Ave, Croydon. The hall opens of 7.45pm, training starts at 8pm and finishes at 10.30pm. Enquiries: Jason 9762 7795 Activities Everyone is welcome to participate and the focus is on training, learning and having a good time. In additional to the standard rapier training we also offer Cut and Thrust combat training and the option to undertake studies of period sword manuals for various combat systems and weapons e.g. German Long Sword. Such studies fall under the SCA's Royal Guild of Defence structure. Arrowsreach now has active members within the Guild wanting to teach and learn more. Under the Guild structure students are permitted to use actual period sword techniques like half swording, warding and grappling. To assist newcomers we have a limited supply of loaner gear avaiable free of charge. So provided it fits you you can try before you buy so to speak. Warning its great fun and addictive. The venue has outside flat areas to train and has ceiling fans and heaters. We can use the facilities within the kitchen. Public transport:- Its takes about 3 mins to walk from Croydon train Station.
