The SCA has applied for a group exemption but have not received notification of a decision as far as I am aware of. At the time of the submission there was some sort of amnesty while it was being considered. Does this mean that SCA members can or cannot use crossbows in Victoria ? I'm not sure, so I would be cautious ! Look at it this way, if you were stopped by the police do you have enough evidence (paperwork) to show that you can legally carry and use a crossbow ? Are you prepared to go to court and face up to 6 months in prison or a fine of up to $12,270. * [[http://www.legislation.vic.gov.au/domino/Web_Notes/newmedia.nsf/798c8b072d117a01ca256c8c0019bb01/fd20779041bc08cdca256ec0007ea749!OpenDocument| Media Release]] regarding the application amnesty period. * [[http://www.gazette.vic.gov.au/Gazettes2004/GG2004G025.pdf| Victorian Police Gazette 17 June 2004]] details the groups exempt for Crossbows (SCA not one of them), and also for Swords which the SCA does have an exemption. The Aussie BOD has been asked clarify this with the Vic Justice Dept, and I believe that they have started making inquiries. ====== Resources ====== * [[http://www.primitiveways.com/fletching_jig.html|Simple Fletching Jig]] article for period arrows.
